Sure Start Maternity Grant

Hello all. My LG is going to turn 6 months old in a couple of weeks. I am aware I am a bit late for this grabt but no one told me I could apply for this. Do you think I can send the cokpleted gov.uk form alongside a birth certificate or it has to be strictly a MATB1 or written statement by a health professional? Thanks

What's a sure start maternity grant and who is eligible x

You have to be on certain benefits to get it x

@StelYou get a one off amount of £500. Yes you need to meet certain criteria and get specific benefits but it is good to apply for it. You can do this before you give birth or after before baby turns 6months old.

Just MATB1 if I remember correctly but double check cause they may need birth certificate aswell also ring up and check they are a massive help and just explain cause it does take a while for it to come on so it best to check first to make sure you have enough time

Hello @Kristen I dont have my MATB1 anymore as it was handed over. They do not say anything about the birth certificate online so I might call them on Monday and see. I have asked my GP for a statrment but that may take a while and I dont have long till my LG turns 6months. Thry say onlibe that I can send the form only to make the date and then be contacted to supply evidence. So hopefully they can permit this as £500 will be very helpful. I dont get UC just child tax benefit.
