Dip in fetal abdominal circumference

Had my growth scan today at 30+2 and was told there’s been a decrease since my 20 week scan. I went on Google regrettably to see what the causes and outcomes could be and that put me in panic mode so I won’t be doing that again. The nurse assured me that it’s nothing to do with me but the function of the placenta, could also be babies position or experience of the sonographer. I’ve been booked in for another scan in 2 weeks to see if there’s a further dip but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there’s really anything I could to help, I know my diet hasn’t been 100% the past few weeks due to heartburn and nausea so I’m worried that has impacted her growth…

How was the femur length and head circumference? Was they all following little ones lines? Sometimes it can be tricky to get a certain measurement so like you’ve noted, the Sonographer may have struggled to obtain a clear AC measurement. There’s nothing you can do and your diet won’t change anything sweet. I know it’s worrying but just try to keep an open mind and see how your scan goes in a couple of weeks time. The nurses/midwives know best and if baby is measuring slightly lower next time then they’ll possibly put some steps in place, remember, scans aren’t always 100% accurate xx

There seems to be a small dip in FL and HC but that’s just from me looking at the graph, they hadn’t mentioned it during my appointment at the AC was the biggest dip… I’m trying to stay positive and think it could be a misread but now worrying about all the worst case scenarios 😪 x

@Kay honestly sweet, I know it’s easier said than done but really try to keep your head calm🤍 nothing is 100% set in stone with scans and you might find a totally different outcome on your next scan. If there was no other abnormalities then the chances are that it may have been an off measurement. Hopefully everything goes well for you x

Mine dipped around the same time too. I also freaked out. But the nurse told me It was totally fine and that he probably just shifted position. He’s a healthy giant of a kid now. So try not worry!

I had a perfectly healthy baby at full term. Granted she was just over 5lbs but otherwise healthy. She makes sure she lets everyone know she has lungs too lol
