@Emily for what sorry?
Work places aren’t allowed to refuse the new flexible working requests apart from a few reasons so you should complete one of those!
I'm assuming this is a one off holiday request? And not a flexible working request?
If it's a holiday, there should be a policy about when requests are rejected or submitted (even if it is within a timely manner). I'd check this out. If you have an HR department, I would approach them and raise a grievance relating to this incident x
Next time don't tell them and call in sick...
Wouldn't recommend calling in sick as this can be marked against you and could lead to future disciplinaries
@Elizabeth my work don’t do flexible working to my knowledge 🤷🏼♀️
@Keri I would still do it and refuse a disciplinary… I have a warning last year I was off with a sinus infection then my daughter wasn’t well and couple times so I got a warning 😂
All workplaces legally must review any flexible working requests. https://www.gov.uk/flexible-working
Depending on the nature of what the business does, it might be more difficult for them to approve, but they legally must review x
@Elizabeth I work in retail a home furnishings shop x
Oh, you should absolutely be able to have a request considered then!
If you want to make sure you're following everything correctly then I would contact ACAS (HR advisory service) for advice x
Get it all in writing with time stamps!
