Bath time

How often do you guys give a 1 month old a bath?? I read that it’s best to only do 2-3 times a week. Is that correct???

I was told not to submerge at one month. Just do a sponge bath..

We did 1 to 2 times a week after the umbilical cord stump came off and healed. Then around I think 3 months we did a bath every night to help my daughter wind down for the night but we didn’t use soap every night because it can dry out their skin.

I gave my baby girl sponge baths every 2 days until she was 2 months, then I actually sat her in her tub 2-3 times a week. When she hit her sleep regression around 4.5 months, I started taking her into the shower with me when I take my nightly shower. But I don't soap her up, I just let the water hit her butt as I hold her because that + the skin to skin helps her fall asleep. I still give her a bath bath (washing her body + hair) twice a week. I do it on the 2 days my BF doesn't work from home and it helps me put her down for that midday nap so I can get some time to myself, time to clean, etc.

We bath our 3 month old every 2 or 3 days

I honestly think we did less than that. We sponged him as needed for the first bit, and then did a combo of sponging and full baths when he was 6-12 weeks and as needed. We were living in total chaos (long story short, we had our belongings, plus another house worth’s of things in our 990sqfoot condo until we moved into our house a literal month ago)

I'm scared after I give birth to give the baby a bath until 3 months might just be sponge

I do sponge bath almost every day for nighttime routine

Omg after reading these comments I’m nervous lol. I’ve been giving my 2 month old a bath almost everyday. Should i not be doing that?….

I give my baby a bath every night, i was just told to wait till her belly button falls off which happened at 1 week, and i found the bath soothes her and helps her calm down to sleep better, i do moisturize her skin after and shes been doing fine

Yup, 2-3 times a week! Their skin is super sensitive, so any more often than that, and you could dry out the skin.

@Caroline you can give them a bath once the cord falls off.

@Mallory you can bathe baby everyday, you just don’t have to. As others have commented maybe avoid using products everyday, and on occasion just use water. Useful link: https://www.nhs.uk/start-for-life/baby/baby-basics/caring-for-your-baby/bathing-your-baby/#how-often-should-I-bathe-my-baby

I give her a bath every day (sometimes every other day) as part of her bedtime routine, I wash face and hands daily and hair once or twice a week and full body every few days. She had really bad acne at 1 month and we were told to wash her face daily to help clear it up.

I bath my daughter every night she is now 3 months old

We did Everday after cord fell if about week 2
